LEVEL I
A modular course
consisting of Adult Basic Life Support and First Aid. This is the core
curriculum and the minimum amount of training necessary to successfully
complete the requirements for a trained Basic First Aider. It is
considered an 8-hour program consisting of two 4-hour modules.
Adult Basic Life Support –
Prevention and initial care for Cardiac Emergencies; including
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Automated External Defibrillation, Angina
Pectoris, Stroke, and Foreign Body Airway Obstruction.
Basic First Aid – Prevention and
initial care for Emergency Moving of Injured Patients, Wounds/Bleeding,
Traumatic Shock, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Burns, Eye Injuries,
Drowning, Allergic Emergency (Anaphylaxis), Asthma, Fainting and
Diabetic Emergencies, Drug Overdose, Poisoning, Seizures, Temperature
Related Problems, Insect Stings/Bites, Spider Bites, Venemous Snake
Bites, Dental Injuries and Suspension Trauma (Orthostatic Intolerance).
The Level I course is designed to meet
OSHA GUIDELINES CPL 2-2.53 and OSHA 3317-05N 2006 BEST PRACTICES
GUIDE: FUNDAMENTALS of a WORKPLACE FIRST AID PROGRAM.
LEVEL II
Pediatric Basic Life Support – Deals with infants
and children up to 8 years of age. Directed to all who are responsible for
the care of infants and children, including parents, babysitters, day-care
providers, teachers, etc. Cardiac arrest in this age group is rarely
primarily of cardiac origin. It is more commonly caused by respiratory or
circulatory failure resulting from a variety of injuries or medical
diseases. In the vast majority of cases we are dealing with a preventable
problem. This course places special emphasis on the causes and prevention
of pediatric accidental injuries and death. It provides training in the
initial care for Cardiac Emergencies; including Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation, Automated External Defibrillation, and Foreign Body Airway
Obstruction. A prerequisite for this course is successful completion of
our Level I or an equivalent.
